In a nutshell… number three engine and gearbox off of the line, put into this later deluxe chassis by the factory, making it the oldest surviving Sunbeam S7 in the world!. It turns out that the first hundred produced were sold as a batch to the South African Police department, who returned the lot as un-rideable due to vibration. The factory took number one completely to bits and never resold it. Number two has never resurfaced. The factory then put the remaining engines on a shelf until a few years later when they mounted these engines in later deluxe chassis which are rubber mounted and then re- sold them. So this is essentially the oldest survivor unless number two ever re-appears which is doubtful. All of which can be confirmed via the club. Also if you look into Sunbeam S7 history you will find the first 1,000 had much revvier engines, and were subsequently detuned and slowed down. This has the higher revving engine and sounds different to the standard S7.
