1929 Royal Enfield 505. 500cc ohv Twin Port single. V5C present and extensive file. So, this is an extremely rare Royal Enfield model. I am told that there are not many of these left, although no one can put an exact number on it, but it sounds to be less than a hundred worldwide. This was a sort of de-luxe high end sports machine in Enfield’s catalogue at the time. Remember that 1929 was the year the stock market crashed and the great depression started, so this probably killed sales. This one has been restored in recent years by a retired engineer as a hobby. The file has bills included which amount to circa £3,300. So quite a lot has been done, including some quality plating and decent paintwork. Unfortunately due to age and health it has not really been used. So we have a machine that is at running stage, but requires settling in and using. It will require a new battery as that is dead and it starts and runs ok, but cuts out after about 30 seconds, so maybe the float so sticking or tap partially blocked. Either way, its minor fettling and then good to go. It also could do with a period speedo. I think this was probably the first of the saddle tank models, previously they would have been making flat tank machines. So, this is basically the flagship sports model from the 1929 year. By chance it sold in low numbers and survival rate is lower still, so you are looking at very few left. This is running, is registered, has recently been restored, and is basically ready for use. It has to be one of the most attractive Enfield’s ever produced. I have never even seen another even at shows. 07718 593259. I can get it delivered, and I do not take PayPal or credit cards. I am open to part exchange.
